Hours after Advocate Veerji Kolhi experienced a serious assault on himself and his home, he worked diligently with friends and supporters to organize a protest and the Press Club Hyderabad. It is appalling that simply because Advocate Veerji Kolhi is representing 72 Bonded Laborers in a case that rendered them as victims under harsh treatment for 10 years not limited to death threats should they choose to return to their native villages, gang rape, theft of personal possessions and loss of their animals that these landlords and their men i.e. Laiqat s/o Zubair Sehto and Azaam s/o Ashraf Nohani would viciously attack Advocate Veerji Kolhi and disturb the peace of his household! How Dare They! Do these men realize they are attacking an Advocate who is an officer of the court? Do they realize that Advocate Veerji Kolhi is protecting the inalienable human rights of his people? Why is it that these men cannot accept a court hearing on their crimes? They have an advantage simply because they are not minorities in their country. Why not allow other voices to be heard on the matter and let the court decide? Do they think they can actually get away with abusing people in their employ for 10 years without giving them any compensation for their labor? How do these facts justify the assault they committed on an Advocate working in the interest of Justice? Perhaps they feel justified to mistreat people simply because they are minorities. After all it is a Muslim country, so why not? The reality is that there is no justification for aggressive acts such as this in any civilized society! The courthouse is a place where justice is rendered and served! Why take the law into your own hands? Civilized men to not seek to attack other men because they cannot agree. Civilized men work to make the changes necessary in the laws of the society that are not proactive to peaceful coexistence. Laws that discriminate cannot bring a nation to advanced thinking or any tangible progress. WE, the International community support Advocate Veerji Kolhi in his efforts to bring men like this to justice and free those enslaved in harsh conditions and cruel treatment. This case has been forwarded to International Human Rights Organizations responsible for upholding rights of indigenous peoples around the globe. IUFE demands the immediate arrest of the accused on this incident!
